Upgrades planned at Cathedral Place, Buffalo, NY
Kissling Interests, a property developer, has plans to spend millions on an upgrade at Cathedral Place, 298 Main Street. The 11 storey office building was originally purchased by the company in 2001 for around $2.6 million.
It was last renovated in the 1980′s by Uniland Development, and then acquired by the law partnership Damon & Morey when Blue Cross, the building owner and occupant moved elsewhere. The legal partnership then moved into the building from their original address in Empire Tower.
Damon & Morey moved out of the building last year, leaving a 60,000 sq ft gap for Kissling Interests to fill across the top six floors. They are hoping the $2 million rennovation project will help bring in new tenants to the property. New doors, lighting and other exterior work is planned for the building.
Else where in the building around $1 million is to be spent including a marble make-over for the lobby connecting Main Street and Cathedral Park. The elevators, hallways and bathrooms will also be fully refurbished.
“We are planning Class-A finishes” says Scott LaCasse, Executive Vice President of Kissling. The building offers fantastic views of the area including St Pauls Cathedral and the Guaranty Building.
Kissling is offering to give naming rights to the first tenant who signs for a 20,000 sq ft or larger lease. Cathedral place will be marketed by Gunner Tronolone of MJ Peterson Commercial Real Estate and also Newmark Knight & Frank’s New York office. The announcement comes as the commercial real estate market is beginning to recover after the market crash, and should help attract new business to the downtown area.
