Davidson selected for new iQmetrix headquarters

iQmetrix, a small independant business which develops business software for mobile phone companies, has moved its US headquarters to Davidson, following 5 years at Chartwell office park, Cornelius.

The company, which has its headquarters located in Vancouver, Canada, will move its 14 employees in a 6000 square foot office on the third floor of 445 S Main Street. Although only a small company, the move represents one of the largest corporate relocations in the town’s history, representing a shift from more traditional local industries to technology companies.

The move also represents a boost for the local economy, with high vacancy rates and many offices standing empty in an area hit hard by the recession.

iQmetrix is presided over by Bill May, president of U.S. operations, and develops software named RQ4, which assists wireless companies manage their business operations. Its customers include major mobile companies including T-Mobile and Verizon.

The move represents the realisation of a dream for May, who first intended to lease an office in Davidson a decade ago, only to be priced out of the market.

The expansion into the town demonstrates that even a recession has a silver lining, giving the company room to grow in a hip college town.

May stated: “We really like the community aspect of it. We were excited about moving into a college town.”
