Buckhead neighbourhood sees office showdown

Speakeasy, an Atlanta communications consultancy, has agreed to lease 14,000 sq ft of office space in the Phipps Tower.

The new office space development is just one of the companies competing for tenancies in the Buckhead neighbourhood. The Lenox Building and the Two Alliance Center are two office blocks competing with the Phipps Tower to secure occupants for their desk space.

Pizza Hut takes slice of Plano office space

America’s biggest pizza chain will be moving the headquarters of its business from current leases in Addison to 170,000 sq feet of office space in West Plano, Texas.

Yum Brands Incorporated and Yum Restaurants International, a Louisville corporation of which Pizza Hut is an affiliate branch, will be accompanying the restaurant giant in their move.

A new “restaurant support center” estimated to cost in the region of $20 million will be created on 20.5 acres of the Legacy Business Park.

Woodlands offices for Technology Land Investments

The Woodlands Development Company have announced the news that Technology Land Investments LP have purchased a 3.8 acre site that will become the new grounds for a proposed office development in Texas.

A brand new 50,000 sq ft office building will hopefully provide desk space to local companies. The J. Beard Real Estate Company are already arranging pre-leases on the prime commercial real estate. According to their current property listings, J. Beard are expecting the new build to be completed by the end of this year or early 2011.

Green Spaces sow the seeds of change

Sprouting like a green shoot through the concrete jungle of New York comes Green Spaces.

Former Wall Street banker Jennie Nevin is the “ecopreneur” behind the forward-thinking workspace initiative to introduce eco-friendly practice into city offices.

The idea for Green Spaces took root in 2007 when Nevin, working with a number of environmentally conscious small businesses, spotted an opportunity to bring the green ethos into the wider workspace.

Commercial Real Estate Loans on the up

Loans to commercial real estate developers are on the up, showing a changing trend in the current US lending market.

Even though it is estimated by Moody’s Investors Service that banks will report losses of up to as much as $150 billion between 2008 and next year, financial institutions are renewing faith in their lending abilities.

New horizons for Horizon Media offices

In a bid to expand, Horizon Media is relocating three of its local New York offices to One Hudson Square in Lease Manhattan office space to rentManhattan.

One Hudson Square lies between the Hudson River to the west, Avenue of the Americas to the east, Canal Street to the south and Morton Street to the north and is serviced by the A and C line Canal Street Station. Formerly an area populated by printers and publishers, the 20 storeys high office building is already a hub for media companies and creative services.

MBA sell Washington HQ for record loss

The Mortgage Bankers Association have sold their Lease Washington office space to rentWashington HQ for $41.3 million, marking a record loss for the organization.

The office building on 131 L Street was bought by real estate research firm CoStar Group this week who plan to occupy about 80% of the building when they move their staff from their current HQ in Berthesda. The sale will mark a huge loss for the MBA who paid around $79 million for the block just under 3 years ago. (more…)

Atlanta-based company to build new office complex

Cox Enterprises has revealed that it will build a new 600,000 square-foot office complex in Atlanta.

The Atlanta-based company’s development, one of the most significant in the area in recent years, will house in excess of 1,000 of its employees who currently work in leased office space in different sites across the city. (more…)

Vernon Hills puts office space lets on hold

In light of consecutive years of declining tax revenues, Vernon Hills has opted to impose a moratorium on businesses not generating sales tax, such as those occupying office space, for the duration of the upcoming 2 quarters.

Trustees of the Californian town recently voted for the temporary suspension of new office lets as Vernon Hall undertakes research in to what is the best commercial solution to combating the contracting economy. (more…)

Davidson selected for new iQmetrix headquarters

iQmetrix, a small independant business which develops business software for mobile phone companies, has moved its US headquarters to Davidson, following 5 years at Chartwell office park, Cornelius.

The company, which has its headquarters located in Vancouver, Canada, will move its 14 employees in a 6000 square foot office on the third floor of 445 S Main Street. Although only a small company, the move represents one of the largest corporate relocations in the town’s history, representing a shift from more traditional local industries to technology companies.
