Atlanta-based company to build new office complex
Cox Enterprises has revealed that it will build a new 600,000 square-foot office complex in Atlanta.
The Atlanta-based company’s development, one of the most significant in the area in recent years, will house in excess of 1,000 of its employees who currently work in leased office space in different sites across the city.
Cox Enterprises, a communications, auto services and media company, expects to complete the development, which betrays both their recent growth as well as their commitment to the local community, by 2012.
The construction will be undertaken on the 29-acre Central Park site and will be home to the company’s technology division, Cox Communications, accommodating I.T. and internet staff.
The Lake Hearn Drive building will still continue to serve as the company’s headquarters following the completion of the new development, housing all non-technology departments.
This new construction is a further reflection of the recovering economy which has seen many developments put on hold over the last 2 years during the recession.
“It’s a very significant deal,” said Lanie Rea, research manager with Jones Lang LaSalle in Atlanta.
Marybeth Leamer, Cox Enterprises executive vice president, administration and human resources, added: “Our company’s growth necessitates the construction of additional facilities.”
She concluded: “This rings especially true for Cox Communications, which is ramping up its operations to soon launch next-generation wireless voice and Internet services. We’re excited to further develop our Central Park campus to meet their specific needs.”
