A Tennessee office gives a great fitness incentive to its workers
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has a very unusual twist in its offices amongst the usual office clutter and desks. There are work stations with the usual PC and telephone but there is the absence of an office chair.
Instead of getting people to sit down and work in their usual comfort, they now have treadmills enabling them to walk whilst they work. It is a health conscious move that has left staff feeling great.
It is part of the company’s drive to increase the fitness of their employee’s whilst keeping them doing their important duties such as replying to emails and answering the phone. It is part of a pilot scheme to see if it could directly benefit their workforce but also ensure no loss of service to its customers.
Mr. Choice has been using the treadmill whilst working for two months, he said, “For a while I didn’t even come up to it, because I didn’t know how to use it. It’s better to get up and stretch your legs. I would prefer some sunlight and some fresh air.”
It is not known at this point whether the measures will stay in place but with Mr. Choice’s resounding endorsement along with other staff it is certainly welcome to stay as far as they are concerned.
